Buffalo Jump NYC Celebrates Historic First Native American Heritage Reception at Gracie Mansion

November 14, 2023 | 1-Minute Read

On November 14, 2023, Buffalo Jump NYC proudly participated as an official in-kind donor for New York City's first-ever Native American Heritage Month reception at Gracie Mansion, hosted by Mayor Eric Adams.

This historic occasion marked the first official mayoral reception at Gracie Mansion dedicated to honoring Native American and Indigenous communities, celebrating our histories, cultures, and lasting contributions to New York City.

The event brought together Indigenous leaders, artists, and organizations, including the Lenape Center, Spiderwoman Theatre, and the American Indian Community House, recognizing the enduring presence of Indigenous peoples in the city.

As a Native American and Puerto Rican family-owned catering company founded by Brooke Rodriguez (Borikua Taíno) and Chef Leo Cordier (Sicangu Lakota), we were honored to contribute to this milestone in Indigenous representation.

For Buffalo Jump NYC, this was more than a historic event. It was an opportunity to celebrate our living cultures, share our Indigenous food traditions, and help create greater visibility for Native American communities in New York City.

Our contribution is officially recognized by the City of New York.
